One of the most popular and attractive flooring options in the home is hardwood. What do new home buyers look at… Kitchen, bathroom and flooring. Whether you are looking to just enjoy the comfort of your home or you are looking to get top dollar on the sale of your home. Spend the time and money on a good quality hardwood flooring throughout your home. It will benefit you greatly.

Unlike some of its competitors, there are a plethora of hardwood flooring types to choose from, ranging from ash to Walnut. Needless to say, each wood flooring type offers a unique set of characteristics that separates itself from other hardwoods.

Wood Floor Types & Prices

Before we discuss the physical characteristics of the most popular types of hardwood, you should know how expensive wood flooring can be.

Oak Flooring

Oak is the most common wood floor used in North America. Oak flooring is an option that is highly resistant to dents and deep scratches. This makes oak a very popular choice for those homeowners who like to avoid area rugs. Like many of the other types we will discuss, oak comes in wide variety of stain colors and almost always has an obvious grain pattern.

MAPLE

Maple flooring is one of the most popular hardwood flooring choices. Maple has a very subtle grain pattern that works well in both large and small spaces. It’s also extremely durable which is great for high-traffic areas. Maple is less porous than other types of wood, which means that if you’re looking for a very specific stain, this might not be the type of wood for you as it’s harder for it to absorb stains.

WALNUT

There are different species of walnut hardwood floors. The floors generally have a dark, exotic look, which is versatile and looks great in most homes. It is extremely hard — it’s one of the strongest hardwoods on the market — great for high-traffic areas with kids and/or pets.

BRAZILIAN CHERRY

These floors have a very distinct look and are quite elegant. With the reddish brown tone it can add a richness to any room. This is another very durable floor that works well in high-traffic areas.

ASH

Ash is a great option if you’re looking for a very hard wood that is usually less expensive than other hardwoods. There are about 45–65 different types of ash trees so it’s important to do your research on your ash flooring options before you have it installed into your home.
